The Work Readiness Program provides an opportunity for those who require a longer period of vocational training to insure a successful placement. The focus is on the development of specific job task skills, quality of work, and quantity produced. Services include:
Work Adjustment… assists participants seeking employment to develop or reestablish work habits and behaviors, quality and quantity of work, determine functional capacities, develop proper work habits, and interpersonal skills along with effective communication skills and increased stamina. Two types of Work Adjustment are provided: Facility Based here at Goodwill and Community Based with Goodwill’s business partners in the community.
Job Readiness Training… this training provides in-depth training in how to prepare for and conduct an effective job search. It assists the consumer in researching the job market, where to look for jobs, how to complete an application, how to prepare a resume, how to write a cover letter, how to answer difficult questions in an interview, as well as dress, eye contact and body language. Consumers are afforded mock interviews to practice what they have learned.
Job Coaching… this service provides intensive one to one instruction in specific job tasks and job behavior management in the competitive labor market. It includes establishing employer relationships, developing a comprehensive job task analysis and working to establish natural job supports by our rehabilitation professionals.
Work Literacy Skills… this training entails instructional activities designed to develop the necessary literacy skills with which to seek and retain employment.
Home Oriented Work Skills… are provided to those who need instruction in how to care for themselves, family members, and their home in order to be able seek employment goals.
Personal & Social Adjustment… provides the participant with intensive counseling to remediate interpersonal difficulties and behaviors which hinder success on the job.
Employment Skills Training… provides training in a number of occupational fields including clerical, janitorial, and fork lift.
Job Placement Assistance… enables the job seeker to secure employment in the competitive labor market.
Mobility Orientation… this service involves the provision of instruction to individuals with sensory, cognitive or other physical disabilities to be able to negotiate a variety of environments independently and safely.
